PTV AG is involved in road safety efforts in the fields of research, data basis and applications. The German company contributes to research projects such as IN-SAFETY or SafeSpot.
PTV is also making a major contribution to the generation of safety-relevant information for drivers by establishing a reliable data basis. This starts with the visualisation of speed profiles and daytime traffic volumes, using the traffic model PTV VALIDATE. The traffic model allows PTV to provide navigation systems and services with data for the whole of Germany. Applications und best practice are demonstrated by PTV through the establishment of geo-referenced accident databases (ggf. Link auf nächste Seite) in close co-operation with police authorities. The high quality of the data allows specialists to analyse the causes of the accidents.
Under the catchword "improved traffic management" - PTV develops and operates software components for traffic information providers and traffic management centres, e.g. the Traffic Management Centre (TMC) in Berlin.
PTV is a worldwide operating company that has made a major contribution to the establishment of traffic information and service networks. It is unique in providing a wide range of products: from traffic consulting to software solutions for traffic, mobility and logistics applications. The business unit Traffic has developed the seamless traffic information and planning system PTV Vision, featuring all levels of traffic modelling and simulation. It has more than 2000 users around the world. The business unit Mobility provides PTV's core components for navigation devices. Accident type map with EUSKA - display all accidents of one year
EUSka is an electronic accident analysis system. Traffic accidents are no longer recorded and analysed by using pins (of different colours) manually fixed on street maps. Additionally, checking accident records piling up a mile high is a thing of the past. The burdensome paper mountains are thus eliminated. As such, EUSka is rapidly becoming one of the most useful software when it comes to accident recording and analysis. Among EUSka's first users are the police authorities of Thuringia, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony and 2006 Hesse follows and this year 2007 starts North Rhine-Westphalia.
For the first time, a tool set a standard in road safety, defining a common methodology.
EUSka guarantees efficient road safety work, from accident recording to black spot analysis. Based on geo-coded accident data, the software incorporates a huge range of analysis possibilities and research functionalities for police, road construction authorities, traffic road authorities, consultancies and research institutions.
EUSka is a joint product, developed by the Department of the Interior and the police, under the overall control of the Traffic Engineering Institute of German policyholders (VTIV). Objective was to create an empirical geographical analysis system, respecting the existing German handling and evaluation guidelines. Besides meeting all of the requirements, EUSka has an easy-to-handle character. Consequently, the implementation phase among the first users at the police authorities was short. Their Conclusion: EUSka means better results achieved with less staff.
