PTV's geospatial platform PTV MobilityPlatform is a modular and open software offering basic geo-components, ready-to-use applications and pre-configured application modules to easily develop and integrate mobility-based services. Interfaces are available to numerous external systems for customer data management, billing or the use of information from mobile communication networks.
The components have standardised WebServices interfaces which can be accessed via an XML-based SOAP protocol. AJAX Servlets enable developers to easily create AJAX-based features. The platform can be operated at PTV's data processing centre and external computer centres alike.
The PTV MobilityPlatform is based on a modular architecture. The PTV Mobility Applications and the PTV Mobility Application Modules have been developed in Java and consist of Enterprise Java Beans (EJB). They run on standard J2EE application servers.
The PTV xServers provide the application modules and applications with basic geo-functionalities. All components support the XML-based SOAP protocol to provide access via the WebServices interfaces, independent of the platform technology of the external system.
The front-ends and the client applications can be developed with JSP/servlet technlology, on the basis Microsoft.NET, stand-alone Java or Macromedia Flash. PTV provides a full software development kit for Java and NET as well as a detailed documentation on mobility-based services.
